Spring Neckwear from Orley, Givenchy, Jil Sander: Things I Have

I've been feeling a little sparse in the neckwear department and so last week headed out to do a Spring replenishment.

My first stop was the new (and very well appointed) Carson Street Clothiers. I'd been to their Opening Night party and spotted a few amazing Orley ties. So I went back to pick up their Houndstooth Tie in Olive (below far right).

Next I headed over to Jeffrey, the store I try to avoid because there's always incredible designer picks I want. I tried on a really cool short sleeve Jil Sander sweater (more to come on that), but ended up taking home a green Givenchy Paisley print tie (far left below) and a Jil Sander Hexagon print in navy (middle).

I also grabbed the matching pocket square for the Jil Sander print, and can't wait to wear them together for an (overly) coordinated look.

Just Two Looks: Neil Barrett Fall 2013

Seeing photos of the Neil Barrett show from Milan, I really enjoyed the coats he sent down for Fall '13... but what really caught my eye were the mixed media knits.

I loved the ones below -- the way Barrett pieced together the different materials, the use of leather, and the general geometric visual of each one. I will say that these and a few other pieces in the collection seemed inspired by Riccardo Tisci's past collections at Givenchy, and a smattering of Dries too.

But overall I think it was nicely done, and encourage you to check out all of the pics (and Matthew Schneier's review) at Style.com

Givenchy Pre-Fall Accessories: Things I Love

Well Riccardo Tisci does it again... Givenchy just released their Pre-Fall accessories and I had a really tough time choosing my favorite. The collection includes a great mix of pouches, wallets, and totes in a variety of prints and fabrications.

Two favorites (there was no way to pick just one)... I am digging this red tartan, it catches your eye but has subtle branding.

Another fav was the two-tone denim... a bit of a throwback-meets-today-and-still-cool take.

The ever-chic Spaniards at Fucking Young have the whole collection for you to check out. Stay tuned for when I decide which of these I'll be picking up!

Fashion Dream Team Tees: Things I Love

Just this morning I came across a line of tees with the names of designers and the year they were born on the back, made to look like a sports jersey. From Les Plus Dores, it is the "dream team of fashion". Included are McQueen (RIP), Dolce, Simons, and others... but my personal favorite is Tisci!

I am such a fan of the Givenchy designer and definitely want to rock this out... get over to Hypebeast for more info and a full list of available names.

Givenchy Fall 2012: Things I Love

My favorite show out of Paris so far has been Givenchy. Granted, Thom Browne hasn't shown yet... but I had to give a shout to Riccardo Tisci for the amazing work he's done at the house in general, but specifically with men's. It is not a collection that skews towards my personal aesthetic but I totally appreciate what he's doing and do want to give it a try!

As with Spring he shows a consistent threading of themes, staying on point with the general nuances he's introduced (skirts, leggings, printed tops) while tackling more subtlety for Fall '12 (no birds of paradise here).

Going through the collection I really fell for the more monochromatic looks and pulled out a few of my favorites to highlight below.

I really loved this coat and can't wait to see (and touch) it in person.

Something so nice and clean about this black shirt + pants, but with that striped belt holding it all together.

This leather top is fantastic! Again there are common tones in the whole look, which I didn't mind given the change in material and hue.

Red on red on red on... for someone like myself who appreciates a bold color statement, this is it!

Check out the rest of the collection (it is totally worth it!) at Style.com. Go Riccardo!

Sweater with Leather Sleeves from Givenchy: Things I Want

This may be a little off the reservation for some of you, and perhaps I'm drawn to it because of my interest in Riccardo Tisci and the fantastic stuff he's been doing at Givenchy...

But whatever it is, I'm all about this crewneck sweater with leather sleeves. I like the relative simplicity of the body, in wool, with the contrast coming from the sleeve. And not just the different material, but the length of the sleeve helps it stand out (between you and me, the proportion of the sleeve was a selling point).

Once the weather actually drops to wear you can wear this, I say jump on it!

You can get Selectism's opinion here too (in case you were curious). But then go to SSense and buy it!

Hand Made Leopard Bowtie: Things I Have

I think it shows my sartorial versatility that I can write about Thom Browne one day, and show off a leopard bowtie the next.

Okay, just kidding... in fact this fantastic bow is another gift from my aunt, who hand makes ties for me. I just received it and cannot find the right occasion to wear! So fun and wild, I think it'd go great for a black tie event, or with jeans and boots.

And I have to admit the leopard is giving me some hints of Givenchy Men, which is never a bad thing.

Thanks to my Aunt Diane for another great creation!

Things I Love: Givenchy Couture S/S 2010

There were some amazing designs shown during the Couture shows last week for S/S 2010. I think my favorites were from Givenchy, a house I don't normally gravitate to.

But hello feathers and frills and a really fantastic color palette full of vibrant and rich tones.

This dress was my absolute favorite. I love the sheer and sparkling bodice and then the cascading purples down to the floor.

Go check out the rest of the collection here: http://www.wwd.com/fashion-shows-reviews/fashion-designer/givenchy-8178/givenchy-couture-spring-2010-2435232. You won't be disappointed!
