Aloha Sunday Logo Tee: Things I Want

While in Palm Springs this weekend I met someone behind San Diego menswear store Aloha Sunday. When he told me they carried Olasul (my new favorite swim trunks) I definitely wanted to learn more.

Carrying brands like Warriors of Radness and Apolis, as well as their own private label, there is a great surf meets menswear vibe. I especially liked their hand printed logo tees and want to rock it poolside this summer... aloha!

Check out the rest of their wares here... good stuff from great guys.

Orlebar Brown x Slim Aarons Swimsuit: Things I Want

I've definitely been swimsuit crazy in the lead up to summer. First I did a review of the suits I wanted, then I picked up some new trunks from Vilebrequin, and another new pair at Saturdays Surf.

But now comes a new entry from Orlebar Brown that is too good to pass up. They are launching a series printed with pictures from Getty Images, including the amazing Slim Aarons photo used below. Too cool!

Check out Bruce Pask's review of the line here and then get over to Orlebar later this week (the series launches May 24) and get a pair for yourself!

Gingham Suit from Sid Mashburn: Things I (Almost) Have

I'd written earlier this week about my incredible visit to Sid Mashburn, during last weekend's trip to Atlanta. While I wanted to check out the store for myself, my friend Ankur also wanted to get some new suits, so we were on a mission...

The store was crowded when we arrived but all of a sudden someone comes from the back and asks if we need help, and it was Sid himself. The next three hours were the most inspiring a menswear nerd like myself could ever have.

Sid brought swatch book after swatch book, until we settled on the three fabrics Ankur wanted. He did the fittings himself and was so incredibly helpful.

During the whole process I had come across a gingham swatch that I fell in love with. Something about it caught my eye + I knew I'd end up with it...

I told Sid I wanted a full suit in the gingham -- and off we went! Did the fitting, made adjustments to the pockets, the pant cuff (I went a bit higher than most), and the buttons (I wanted a navy horn versus the standard black).

Now have a 4-6 week wait for the suit to arrive, and I cannot wait. I also cannot thank Sid and his team enough for their patience, insight, and overall awesomeness. I'm definitely a fan.

And I'll definitely be sharing pics when I wear it out for the first time!

Navy Loafers from Sid Mashburn: Things I Have

Last weekend I was in Atlanta and made sure to keep my Saturday free for a trip to Sid Mashburn. The store is incredible, so well merchandised and appointed, and the sales team is beyond knowledgeable.

On this trip my friend and I were helped by none other than Sid Mashburn himself... but more on that later (when I write about the amazing new suit I bought).

Before I'd arrived I did a little research on their website and had seen a great pair of navy loafers. So of course during the course of my store visit I had to try them on. I loved the color -- a really dark navy (which Sid recommended polishing with black). A rubber sole, and a really simple and clean design.

And they are so comfortable, so I couldn't resist wearing them on my first day back in NYC... and of course received numerous comments and compliments.

Handmade in Italy, these are a gently priced + will make a great shoe for Summer as well as transition into Fall. Check them out here for more info (and pick up a pair for yourself!).

Men's Threads Giveaway: American Giant V-Neck Tees

Recently I wrote about a new brand launching out of San Francisco producing sweatshirts with an amazing quality, fit, and price... American Giant. Every time I wear their Snap Cardigan Sweatshirt I get compliments, and it is now the most comfortable thing in my closet.

So I was excited to hear that they've now also launched t-shirts... This week the American Giant V-Neck comes out and in my test runs so far it's as well constructed and easy to wear as their other pieces. And it is built with a shallow "v" -- giving the tee a casual look but maintaining a classic shape.

Now the best part for you is that American Giant wants to share some of these great shirts with Men's Threads readers! The first five to re-tweet this post and follow @American_Giant will get one of these Made in the USA v-necks. So what are you waiting for...

You can learn more about the tees here + check out the other wares on the American Giant site! Happy shopping (and tweeting)!

I'll DM the 5 winners via Twitter for shipping information...

Swimsuit from Vilebrequin: Things I Have

A few weeks ago I posted a swimsuit review -- showing some of the styles I was looking at for summer.

It was admittedly not an exhaustive list... and so when folks representing French beachwear company Vilebrequin suggested I check out their wares I was definitely open to it. I'd been gifted a Vilebrequin suit a few years ago and lost it, so a replacement sounded like a good idea!

Last week I stopped by their store on West Broadway for what a fantastic personal shopping experience... I tried on quite a few different pattern and color combinations in two different styles.

In the end the Moorea cut had a great mid-calf length, and I really loved the Whirlwind print... a nice blend of colors that stands out but isn't too much.

Can't wait to wear this on one of my upcoming beach adventures... check it out here for more info!

Summer Print Shirt from Loden Dager: Things I Want

Last year I wrote about the Loden Dager Spring '12 show, which was one of my favorites that season. I particularly liked the striped print that the they showed on shirts, tanks, and totes.

The print is a lot of fun -- a nice mix of bright colors, and a blocked look to the stripes. I came across the short sleeve button down shirt on the Loden site and think it'd be a perfect addition to my summer beach wardrobe.

Pair it with some denim or white shorts + you're good to go!

Check it out here + snag one to brighten your summer look!

Blazer from Barque: Things I Want

Perusing the new arrivals at Stag's online store and came across a fantastic unconstructed blazer from Barque.

This is lightweight and being unconstructed is the perfect piece to roll up in your weekend bag for a versatile vacation wardrobe.

A washed navy, with white embroidered detail and buttons, it's also very gently priced (as my friend Lorin would say) and an easy grab for summer.

You can pick it up here, and also see other Barque pieces on offer.
