Maison Kitsune Spring '13: Things I Love

I was recently commenting on the frequency of shorts suits being shown in Paris and Milan for Spring '13 -- and Maison Kitsune's collection for the season is no exception. And to be clear, I like it! It ties in well to my own tendency towards a cropped look and also helps to beat the summer heat.

This first look from Kitsune is a favorite of mine, with a great shock of plaid. Together it really stands out, but you could take each piece separately and put together a great look.

If you know me, you know I'm a francophile and so the use of the tricolor on this polo will get me every time.

Another (more tame) shorts suit, this one more aligned with traditional suiting, and perhaps a more acceptable option for the office.

Now that Kitsune has a store here in NYC, I've been dropping by to check out their wares in person... but you can get on their website to see more!

Maison Kitsune Fall 2012: Things I Love

I'm still in the process of re-reviewing all of the European men's shows over the past weeks... and wanted to give a shout to personal fav Maison Kitsune. They consistently deliver well done collections, with a subtle French twist, and Fall 2012 was no exception.

Only this time they hooked me even more because their theme was a "chic man riding his bicycle in the city...". As an avid cyclist I've been loving the surge around brands like Rapha; Kitsune's use of particular fabrics and construction to enable sartorial cyclists gets my endorsement.

A few key favorites were the collared sweater in a bright red, the patterned scarf (BPMW just wrote this morning on the large scarf trend), great layering with a buttoned down club collar... and my must have, the "Parisien" cap.

As I've written here before, I'll now anxiously wait for the famous Kitsune video lookbook, mashing up models hurriedly dressing in the collection with songs produced by Kitsune musical label artists.

Go to GQ to check out the full collection + get your bicycle geared up for Fall!

Jumping Models Video for Kult Magazine: Things I Love

I always enjoy a good video as an avenue for showcasing menswear -- whether it be quirky like Kitsune or something a little more artistic.

German magazine Kult just created one that I kind of love... they pulled together a bunch of my favorite models (hello Evandro + Cory Bond) and have them jumping around, with great editing and a groovin' soundtrack.

Like the recent Resort video Prabal Gurung did with Rye Rye, these shorts can provide a great perspective into a brand or provide a new outlet to showcase apparel.

Editorial from Oki-ni: Things I Love

I totally fell in love with this Oki-ni editorial when I saw it today on Coute que Coute. The whole mood feels like Spring: the lighting, the model sitting in the window, the shorts and sandals. Very well styled and shot and it got me in the mood for Saturday evening barbeques and walking around empty streets on a Sunday afternoon.

It also helps that some of my favorite labels are shown... Band of Outsiders, Kitsune, Thom Browne, Jil Sander. The list goes on!

Below is my favorite look: some Kitsune shorts with a Band of Outsiders shirt. Love it!

If you didn't already get this from my raving above, you must check out the rest of the shots!

Kitsune x James Heeley Candle: Things I Have

I'm committed to leaving Paris the way I came -- with carry-on baggage. So my purchases must be small + selective. Last night I popped into colette, the ever cool concept store that was packed with people clamoring for last minute gifts.

I saw some amazing things (loved a short sweater vest by Henry Holland), and they had a fantastic display upstairs for Christopher Kane.

But I decided on walking away with just a couple of small items, one of which was this candle done by Kitsune in collaboration with perfumer James Heeley. It's mint scented, which I found to be really refreshing, and I loved the sophisticated subtlety of the black glass.

Kitsune is all over the place these days with fantastic collaborations, so it was great to see one more. And great to see colette supporting fellow French labels.

The colette website is where you can find out more info on the candle collab, but be warned, you will start drooling at all of the other items they have on offer.

Kitsune S/S 2011: Things I Want

I've long been a fan of Parisian based label Kitsune. I still dream about the shoes they collaborated on with Pierre Hardy. And their super fun promotional videos for new collections (Video by Kitsune).

So now... they've released images from their S/S 2011 collection and I love it! Casual, fun, man about town with a slight European flair.

My favorite look was definitely the two toned jacket, shown below. I love the soft colors and the light to dark contrast.

Check out the rest of the collection at Selectism: http://www.selectism.com/news/2010/07/22/kitsune-springsummer-2011-collection-the-reporter/.

Enjoy!

Things I Love: Video by Kitsune

Well, I already think Kitsune rocks (see my post on their shoes with Pierre Hardy)... but then they go and do something fun + kitsch like this "music video" to show their new collection.  It's awesome!  Great tunes, some great threads, and irreverently done.

Found it on Hypebeast, shared with my friends, and you can see it here: Kitsune Video

Things I Want: Kitsune with Pierre Hardy Shoes

Well I have long been a fan of Pierre Hardy for... yes... his bags. But the rockstars at Selectism have pointed me towards these hot shoes he has done with Kitsune. I am sold! Love the color, love the white eyelets, love the differently colored laces.

And to be honest they're only 310 EUR from Colette (c'mon folks, the dollar is gaining)...

Go get 'em here: http://www.colette.fr/#/eshop/article/26275/kitsune-x-pierre-hardy-shoes/89/
