Lapo Elkann, Fiat heir, CEO
of Italia Indepenent, and all around style icon has now collaborated on
a capsule collection for Gucci. It's well, a pretty robust capsule with
both suiting and separates.
And
for me it evokes an amazing throwback to Lapo's grandfather Gianni
Agnelli -- wide lapels, spread collars, rich fabrics -- and an aesthetic
that Lapo himself has largely adopted.
Here I've picked my three favorite looks, starting off with this great one button blazer paired with a wide collar button-down shirt, and very Gucci looking trousers. The beautiful carryall doesn't hurt either.
In the suiting department I loved the light windowpane for Fall, and the styling of the wider-than-currently-trending tie helps anchor the spread collar shirt. Office ready for sure.
And for a more formal night out -- this velvet double breasted tuxedo is the epitome of luxe. Staying on the wide collar trend, I feel like this jacket could sprout wings and fly, but I love how neatly tailored it is on the sides. Velvet is a bold choice for a tux, but that wasn't always the case -- again showing a nice look back at Italian fashion legacies.
All images here... and definitely a collection to watch for in-store.

Yellow Suit from Woolrich John Rich & Bros: Things I Want
Spring 2013 for the Woolrich label John Rich & Bros. has a great blend of traditional silhouettes mixed with technical fabrics and detail.
It was enhanced (for me at least) by a lot of yellow incorporated across the collection. I was particularly drawn to this three piece suit...
I really loved the color but also the waxy/shiny texture of the fabric which definitely helps it stand out (although just the color could probably do that), and keeps it well aligned with the general Woolrich aesthetic.
Overall the collection had a lot of interesting pieces, check them out at The Fashionisto.

Dolce & Gabbana Summer Campaign: Things I Love
I've mentioned before that I'm not a huge fan of Dolce & Gabbana and have never really found myself drawn to their collections. But the thing I will say is that their ad campaigns always rock. Great models, great stories, always really well done.
For Summer 2012 they not only used one of my favorite models (yes, yes... Arthur Kulkov) but they had some really well styled suits, fantastic specs, and some color (see jacket below) and whimsy.
The whole set was good, but my selected favorites are below... starting with Mr. Kulkov.

Jumping Models Video for Kult Magazine: Things I Love
I always enjoy a good video as an avenue for showcasing menswear -- whether it be quirky like Kitsune or something a little more artistic.
German magazine Kult just created one that I kind of love... they pulled together a bunch of my favorite models (hello Evandro + Cory Bond) and have them jumping around, with great editing and a groovin' soundtrack.
Like the recent Resort video Prabal Gurung did with Rye Rye, these shorts can provide a great perspective into a brand or provide a new outlet to showcase apparel.

Suit from Frankie Morello: Things I Love
I have always been drawn to bright things. Color, patterns, pop -- I love it all. So this morning I came across this campaign for Frankie Morello and just couldn't take my eyes off this bright floral suit.
And by suit I mean... shirt, tie, jacket, pants all the same print. It's kind of insane + kind of genius. I want the whole look! While definitely something you couldn't do season after season, pieces of this ensemble could be re-purposed with dark jeans or a white shirt.

Patterned Suit from Viktor & Rolf: Things I Want
The Paris Men's shows are underway and I was just cruisin' through some shots of Viktor & Rolf. Amazing. I have really been fans of these guys for such a long time... they're always quirky but always uber creative.
I remember when I was living in Amsterdam and I *swore* I saw the two designers in a bar. I wanted to go say 'hi', but I blinked and they were gone. Perhaps just an illusion?
So their presentation contained some great pieces -- I loved the quilted jackets, especially the one with quilted arms, a cotton body, and corduroy collar. So fun.
But my favorite look was this black and gray patterned suit. I'm obsessed with patterned suits lately (hello, Tom Ford). This one is great because it stands out but the colors are muted enough that you do a double take when you see it. Sort of like an illusion...
You must check out the other looks via Fashionisto.

Filippa K Spring 2011: Things I Love
With a few shots Filippa K just got me into the mood for Spring, in a major way. Came across their S/S 2011 campaign and loved the easy styling, the wheat field setting, and the lightness off the photos.
When I lived in Amsterdam I became a big fan of the label, and have followed them here in the States (courtesy of Barney's).
Great work (and I wouldn't mind that navy blazer!)...

Thom Browne in Wonderland: Things I Love
So this *might* be my second Thom Browne related post of the week, but don't judge. The man is just kind of amazing. And this shoot for Wonderland is such a perfect expression of Browne's character and aesthetic. I'm only slightly obsessed...
Although I can't decide which I prefer between the sharp black & white shots with paper hats and masks, or the glossly colorful ones.
I've written in the past about this collection and how much I love the infusion of nautical icons. I also think the sequined plaid jacket is brilliant. Browne took one of his mainstay prints and the sequin monster just threw up all over it. I love it.
You must go to The Fashionisto and check out the full editorial.

Things I Love: Miami photo shoot by Alexander Neumann
Shazam! I found this awesome photo shoot on The Fashionisto... it is by Alexander Neumann, featuring Guiri Reyes.
With the mix of colors and movement and patterns, the photos rock! And learning it was shot in Miami totally makes sense, since it is a city with a lot of vibrancy and attitude.
The photo below is a favorite but you have to check out all of the shots.

Things I Want: Polka-Dot Coat
I know I have been on a hiatus from posting the things I want, have, and love.... but I'm back now and hoping to get caught up with some amazing new finds!
First up is a photo shoot from this month's GQ Russia. Unfortunately I'm to tell from the scans (courtesy of The Fashionisto) who this jacket is by, but I could hazard a guess... Thom Browne anyone?
I really like the dark color of the jacket, contrasted with the white dots. And the size of the circles are large enough to make an impact and keep the piece masculine.

Things I Love: Splash Out! Editorial
I found this editorial spread on one of my favorite reads (The Fashionisto) and just loved it. Of course it feeds into my need for bright colors and wild or eye-catching patterns.
Two of my favorite shots I have shared below -- the all blue (aquamarine?) hoodie, backpack, and shorts with the applied splash of pink across the bottom. Super fun!
And then the quilt jacket and paint splattered jeans (this isn't the first time I've fallen for paint-y jeans). So cool! But really... I want those jeans.
