Short Sleeve Sweater by Jil Sander: Things I Want

On the same day that I bought these rockin' ties at Jeffrey's, I also tried on a short-sleeve sweater by Jil Sander. And I loved it.

It's super simple -- white with different colored bands around the color and arms. 100% wool but very light and comfortable. And I loved it.

However, I left it for another day and so it's currently just on my Things I Want list. Check it out here at The Corner.

Topman Design Fall 2013: Things I Love

The London Men's Collections have kicked off, showing Fall 2013 today from a variety of designers. While I'm unfortunately not in London, I did stay tuned throughout the day from various press sources.

One of shows with some standout looks came from Topman Design. Not a brand I've shopped too much in the past, but have definitely had my eye on -- and this monochromatic styling could be fun for next Fall. Some of my favorites below...

First, I'm all about winter whites. So bring on this cream jacket and turtleneck, paired with stark white pants. While I'm not sure I could pull off the drop crotch/tucked into boots look, I'll definitely do the top half.

Also really enjoyed this shock of orange! It was a color seen a few places in today's London shows and I like pulling it all together like this.

The big collar of this coat is speaking to me -- I'm on the hunt right now for a winter coat with a huge enveloping collar (realize I'm late to just now be shopping for cold weather gear), so this one might be a good get for next Fall.

One of my resolutions for 2013 was to wear more suits, and another was to buy more double-breasted jackets. With that in mind, this look stood out -- knowing it'll be price-conscious but with European tailoring that will help when you're looking for a slim fit.

The kind folks at Topman sent over all of the looks from the show, but you can also find them at Fucking Young.

Maison Kitsune Spring '13: Things I Love

I was recently commenting on the frequency of shorts suits being shown in Paris and Milan for Spring '13 -- and Maison Kitsune's collection for the season is no exception. And to be clear, I like it! It ties in well to my own tendency towards a cropped look and also helps to beat the summer heat.

This first look from Kitsune is a favorite of mine, with a great shock of plaid. Together it really stands out, but you could take each piece separately and put together a great look.

If you know me, you know I'm a francophile and so the use of the tricolor on this polo will get me every time.

Another (more tame) shorts suit, this one more aligned with traditional suiting, and perhaps a more acceptable option for the office.

Now that Kitsune has a store here in NYC, I've been dropping by to check out their wares in person... but you can get on their website to see more!

Thom Browne Shoes: Things I Have

Okay so here's a follow-up to my insane Thom Browne trend of the past week... I told you I picked up some great shoes at the sample sale. Well, here they are!

I am loving these saddles shoes. Black, white, and awesome all over!

Of course, not without the trusty red/white/blue tab at the back. #IfYouKnowYouKnow

Mark McNairy Saddle Shoes: Things I Want

Last weekend when I was (briefly) in Hong Kong I went on a saddle shoe mission. I ran over to I.T and tried on four or five different pairs. Of those, I really loved these tone-on-tone with white eyelets by Mark McNairy.

McNairy is everywhere right now -- his New Amsterdam line, designing for Woolrich Woolen Mills, a collaboration with Club Monaco. I am totally enamored with his footwear, and many call him the best in the business.

This pair was great because of the contrast the white eyelets and white sole provide. Totally perfect for Spring/Summer.

Ultimately I decided to wait on these because I didn't think they'd fit in my bag. So now I'm on the hunt to find them stateside, because I definitely do want them!

You can find them right now at Bows + Arrows, if you can't wait!

Things I Have: Feiyue

Whenever I arrive in Shanghai I pick up one of the local English magazines, which provide news and events for around the city. On this trip I read an article about Feiyue, a Shanghai produced sneaker that has been made since 1959.

Like many retro items that are coming back, the Feiyue brand was picked up by a Western entrepreneur who modified the shoe a bit and started selling them in France and the U.S. The article I read mentioned you could get them now at Fred Segal for $50.

However... there is a small shop in Shanghai that still sells the original. The low cut version is the equivalent of $4 and the mid-top shown here are $7.

So yesterday I hopped on the metro and went to find me some Feiyue! The shop selling them is a very typical local place, a very tiny storefront with merchandise packed inside. The woman inside looked at me (the only Westerner for miles) and immediately knew what I had come for.

And that's how I walked away with a pair in white and in black for a total of 96 RMB. Incredible!
