Zachary Boot from Walk-Over: Things I Have

I may be coming a little late to the boot game, but I've been looking around for a good pair and definitely had some viable candidates (like these!)...

When the folks at Walk-Over shoes (remember these beauties) offered to send me a pair of their Zachary boot, I jumped at the chance.

Just from the photos online I liked the look -- it has wingtip design elements that to me adds sophistication but doesn't detract from the overall intention of the boot, and makes it a great city shoe.

I gave them a try at home and not only were they super comfortable, they started to work in nicely on the first go... given how much I romp around the city, day-long wearability is important!

Here I put them with some Thom Browne moleskine pants (and pink argyle socks) but last night I wore them with jeans, for an equally great effect. An easy entry into my wardrobe rotation!

Have already been receiving looks and compliments and can't wait to keep wearin' the Zachary boot throughout winter. Check them out on the Walk-Over site...

Wingtips from Walk-Over Shoes: Things I Have

I've been on the hunt for a new pair of wingtips and have to say that I became slightly obsessed with this pair on the Walk-Over website. So when they kindly offered to send me a pair, I definitely agreed!

I wore them last night for the first time and not only are they super comfortable, I love the detailing and the stitching They also have a significant heel, and give me some lift! I don't own much black, but really like the color of these and am excited to incorporate them into my winter wardrobe.

At last night's event I had multiple requests for photos of my shoes, so they're obviously going to get some attention!

Check out the Walk-Over website to see all of their offerings... I am definitely impressed with the craftsmanship of these shoes and can't wait to check out other styles.

Loafers from Billy Reid: Things I Have

I am always on the lookout for new shoes... and in the back of mind know that someday my beloved Gucci loafers will have their final days.

So when Billy Reid tweeted that there was a huge sale on their website, I quickly went over and took a look.

Found these loafers, which I thought were great for the dual texture -- a suede-like tongue, and the wingtip toe. While I think they're better suited to Spring, I want to get some use of them as we leave Summer and go into Fall.

Great addition to my closet and excited to wear 'em out!

Get over to the Billy Reid site and see what is on offer from his Fall collection...

Florsheim by Duckie Brown Wingtips: Things I Want

There are a pair of Gucci loafers I've had for almost 8 years. They are by far my favorite shoes and I continually take them into my local shoe repair to get them cleaned or re-soled. Sam (the owner of said shoe repair) warns me that one day he won't be able to fix them and I will have to just replace these amazing loafers that I've walked in all over the world.

So in an attempt to see what could be a viable replacement, I've started scouting shoes. I recently came across some items from the Florsheim by Duckie Brown collaboration, and have to say there were some good options! I've always enjoyed Duckie Brown's collections for their own label and their work with Florsheim is a great extension of that.

Of everything I saw, these laceless wings were my favorite. They come in a variety of colors but I'm partial to navy. I really like the detailing, keeping these like a traditional wingtip. But then they've left out the laces and put in an elastic tongue, which I think gives the shoe that subtle design pop.

You really should check out the rest of the collection (the brogues were also pretty awesome), here at the dedicated Florsheim by Duckie Brown website. Happy shoe hunting!

Brown Wingtips: Things I Have

So I did a little shopping this weekend. What can I say... it's been a while, and Barney's was having a fab sale. I stocked up on some great deals -- functional pieces that I know I'll use!

One of the first purchases I made yesterday was a new pair of leather lace-ups. I've been looking at wingtips for a while now, and these (made in Italy) fit so well and I loved the rich brown color.

Since I feel like I'm always obsessed with casual shoes (especially high tops as of late), this dressy pair will be a welcome addition to my closet. Check 'em out on Barney's website: http://www.barneys.com/Wingtip%20Blucher/500455173,default,pd.html.

Things I Want: Fall Buying Guide from Men.Style

One of my favorite spots for fashion news is men.style.com -- which unfortunately is going away, as Conde Naste separates it into distinct GQ and Details sites.

But they've just released a Fall buying guide, compiled from the buyers of some hot men's departments around the country. I have three fav's that I would love to have for my Fall wardrobe!

First, I am a huge fan of Opening Ceremony. They just plain rock! And (at least in the L.A. store) the sales staff are amazing... great knowledge of fashion and designers, and they are so helpful. You may remember my recent story about scoring a Patrik Ervell tux!

So here is a quilted dress shirt they've done as part of their private label collection. I love the quilting and the color -- perfect for Fall.

Next is a piece that no one who knows me will be surprised by. Gamme Bleu for Moncler... aka, designed by Thom Browne. Obsessed! I love this blazer because it evokes themes that are quintessential to each both Moncler and TB but remaining trim enough for a cool Fall day.

And the last item is a great pair of dress shoes from Common Projects. I have long been a fan of their sneakers, and I think the wingtips are just fantastic. I am so in need of a pair of brown shoes for work... these would be just great. I could also totally see wearing them for the end of summer, sockless, with my pants a bit rolled up.

Enjoy!
