Osklen Fall 2014: Things I Love

So I've been a fan of Osklen ever since my first trip to Brazil. I would walk into their store on Oscar Freire in Sao Paulo and feel transported... the scents, the sounds, the feel of the clothes. As a result I've been made some great purchases (including a one-off enormous leather duffel created for their runway show) along the way.

For Fall '14 the brand has gone full force with color, and I love it. Staying true to the casual meets luxury core of the brand, yet updated with a strong punch of vibrancy through the color and prints being used.

I loved this look with the green on green, and the wide neck sweatshirt.

Already owning a number off white/off-white pieces from Osklen, I thought the combination of this collared shirt with a slick pair of pants presented a sophisticated look.

A simple use of black and white, but something that stands out, stays true to the brand, and is definitely something I would wear for summer (north of the equator that is).

Overall a strong continued showing from Osklen and I can't wait to shop their Soho store once this collection arrives. Full images at Fucking Young!

Sneakers from Veja: Things I Want

While walking through the 10eme this week, next to Canal St. Martin, I came across a great shop carrying men's and women's items, called Centre Commercial. Was drawn to some shoes they had in the window, and discovered a well selected set of apparel and accessories from a variety of European designers.

Those shoes that had caught my eye were the new Mediterranee model from French label Veja. I really liked the simple two-toned design, thinking this would be a great item for Summer. After speaking with the staff, I learned that all of Veja's shoes are produced in Brazil.

With a digestible price point (60 EUR), these are a great add to your closet. Check out more information on the Veja site.

Osklen Shoes: Things I Want

Ever since my first trip to Brazil, I've been a fan of Osklen. They have a really casual surfer vibe (not surprisingly, as the brand was formed in Rio) and to me their stores always smell like the ocean.

They also have some really unique techniques in making their wares... I'm a big fan of their fish skin shoes, something that you won't see anywhere else and they are using local Brazilian products (I have a rockin' pair of high tops).

Well I'm in Sao Paulo again right now and yesterday I spent a good amount of time trying on things at Osklen. Found some great t-shirts, a pair of really nice linen shorts, and a PVC tote bag that is perfect for the beach. But of course the one thing I wanted the most, I could not have. These shoes below...

I loved the mid-high top, the elastic on the side to just pull them on, and the worn canvas feel to them. But the bunched up fabric on the top (Osklen calls it "wrinkled") is what I found to be the coolest design feature. I tried on a size 44 but they were, as expected, too big.

The quest continues (maybe I'll get to another Osklen store before I leave Brazil). But you can check them out here on the website: http://store.osklen.com/loja/produto-27866-47-bota-iate-wrinkle-lona-stone.aspx

Bom dia!
